Savyasachi Movie Story:

Vikram (Naga Chaitanya) is the quintessential youngster with a happy family consisting of his sister (Bhumika), brother-in-law and loving niece Maha, whom he believes to be the reincarnation of his mother. Vikram Adithya (Naga Chaitanya) leads a happy life with love from family and girlfriend. Vikram Aditya(Naga Chaitanya) is a guy who suffers from alien hand vanishing twin syndrome where his left hand is not in control most of the time in this movie. The first ten minutes of the film is quite interesting as the vanishing twin syndrome has been established quite clearly.

Naga Chaitanya is fine in doing what he does well. Looking at the positive aspect here, Chaitu is improving the ease in doing the same routine. He is doing it with more confidence and it reflects on screen. There is nothing exceptional here. At the same time, there is absolutely no negative in any way. It is like he has reached a point where there is nothing new to show.

The first half is stretched to a major dud because of the long and boring romance between Naga and Nidhi Aggarwal. Since the only requirement to have Nidhi Agarwal onscreen (by that I mean, romance) is to be in a frame with Naga, can’t say she did an outstanding job.

On the other hand, Vikram falls in love with Chitra(Nidhi Agarwal) and when things seem to be going absolutely fine, his life turns upside down as his brother in law gets killed and his niece gets kidnapped. It changes when an unexpected person enters into his life.

Who is that and why is he after Vikramaditya (Naga Chaitanya) is what the film is all about? He comes to know something about the blast and what is that news? What happens with his family?

Savyasachi Movie Review: Naga Chaitanya, R Madhavan | Rjytimes.com

While his unseen twin creates enough problems in his life, in comes Arun (Madhavan), someone who seems to hold a grudge against Vikram and his family. He is borderline psychotic, vindictive, crazed and blood-thirsty (metaphorically). R Madhavan as Arun is a mad dog. His character is interesting with schizophrenic tendencies and the way Madhavan has embraced the role is commendable. But with Madhavan’s charisma and charm, you do feel for the anti-hero. Naga Chaitanya as Vikramaditya is nice role. Chaitu gave his best whenever required and his energy in doing the songs is nice. Nidhi Aggarwal did a good job in her role. She has such a beautiful look and it has been used very well in her scenes. Madhavan has done a fantastic job in his role as an antagonist. Bhumika Chawla, as Naga’s sister, could’ve had a better role but happy with her performance, even though there isn’t much to talk about it. Thanks to Vennela Kishore, Shakalaka Shankar, Sudarshan Reddy and others did good work in making audience laugh.

In a tale where both the Savyasachi Vikram-Aditya and his evil counterpart Arun are important, simply not enough time is spent on building the character of the latter. In fact, the whole of the lengthy first half takes its own sweet time to establish the point. Despite the exciting start, proceedings turn slow with more than enough time spent on singing duets, romancing Chitra across two continents, leaning on family sentiment and a flashback establishing his childhood and the vanishing twin syndrome.

This year has been quite different for Tollywood cinema with Jr NTR’s Aravinda Sametha and now Naga Chaitanya’s Savyasachi. Both the films have not only cashed in on the action sequences to bring their audience to the theatres while the plot of the films has been edgy, gripping and outright thrilling! And while Naga Chaitanya’s Savyasachi makes the cut of being an action-thriller, it’s slow start has been quite a downer. But Savyasachi movie fails to fulfil this audience expectation. The concept of Alien Hand Syndrome has not been explored fully in this movie, except for comedy and action sequences. Finally, Savyasachi is just another routine commercial film which doesn’t engage us well all way through.

Songs composed by MM Keeravani are nice and they are already popular among the audience. His background score for the scenes is very good.

Cinematography by Yuvraj is nice. Editing could have been a lot much better.

In his third outing director, Chandoo Mondeti has picked his most commercial mass entertainer. The same aspect also makes Savyasachi his weakest regarding the content. The storyline is highly predictable and wafer thin once one is past the basic concept.

Watch this one if you’re a Naga Chaitanya or Madhavan fan, but definitely leave your brains at home for this one. Overall the film does stand as an entertainer with the good balance of thriller and action.

Savyasachi Critic’s Rating: 2.25/5
