Rajahmundry Godavari Ghats get ready to receive faithful

Rajamahendravaram: As large number of devotees are expected to take the holy dip in Godavari river and perform rituals on the last day on Saturday in the Karthika Masam, Municipal Commissioner Sumit Kumar Gandhi instructed the officials to take all necessary measures to help the devotees perform rituals without facing any trouble.

The municipal commissioner Sumit Kumar Gandhi asked the authorities to make announcement through a public address system advising the devotees not to pollute river water while taking bath by using soap, shampoo and other items.

The municipal commissioner instructed the civic officials to clean the bathing ghats and deploy sanitation workers in shifts from 4.30 am to 8.30 pm at the ghats, including Pushkar Ghat, Chinthalamma Ghat, VIP Ghat, New Pushkar Ghat, Markandeya Ghat, Padmavathi Ghat, Ayyappa Ghat, Saraswati Ghat and Kotilingala Ghat on Saturday.

The official directed them to fix caution boards at bathing ghats warning the depth advising the devotees not to go deep into the river from the ghat at such places for their own safety.

The municipal commissioner asked the EPDCL authorities to provide uninterrupted power supply at the ghats on that day and also asked the staff to pay more attention on lighting and releasing diyas into the river.
